King of the Hill: 60 Do's and Don'ts
Dang it, Bobby.
For the first time in fifteen years, we’re able to say King of the Hill is premiering a brand new season today. That’s right. Hank, Peggy, Bobby, and the entire crew are back in Arlen, Texas and you have a front row view. As long as you have a Hulu subscription. Mike Judge’s classic has been a staple down here in the Basement and we’re pretty daggum stoked to say the least.
As a result of our excitement, we’ve been watching some reruns and doing some research on the show. Funny enough, we heard that early on, animating the show wasn’t the easiest thing in the world. In fact, it was quite difficult to find animators that were up to snuff. Given King of the Hill’s realistic look, it goes without saying the detail in each frame stumps some its competition. We actually stumbled across the animation team’s 60 rules to illustrating the show. A Texas-sized animation bible if you will.
We listed the rules out below for your enjoyment. Take a look and when you’re watching the new episode tonight, remember all of this is probably irrelevant since most cartoons are made on computers these days. Dale would probably have something to say about that. Still worth a peek. Have fun and see you in Arlen, neighbor.
